National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.(NAFED) has been taking various initiatives to support Cooperative Societies (CS), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and Framer Producer Companies (FPCs) for marketing agricultural produce on the output side as well as the supply of inputs viz. Seeds, fertilizers, equipment, etc. under various schemes initiated by the Government of India, State Governments and NAFED. NAFED has a turnover of INR 15,000 crores in the FY 2019-20. NAFED has worked extensively with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) like MAHAFPC, KFMS, etc. and successfully did business amounting to approximately 1000 crores. NAFED has been appointed as the 4th National Implementing Agency other than SFAC, NABARD, and NCDC for the creation of 10,000 FPOs by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare (DAC&FW). NAFED has recently taken over the national level Federation of Indian FPOs and Aggregators (FIFA) with the aim to support the Cooperative Societies and FPCs by linking them to markets for their Agriculture Produce as well as supply of agriculture inputs.

Federation of Indian FPOs and Aggregators (FIFA) is a national level association of more than 100 producer organizations. FIFA primarily works towards sustainability of its member organizations through market linkage and logistical support. FIFA is registered under section 8 of Companies Act, 2013 and is having its Head Quarter at New Delhi. FIFA operates in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan and Telangana.

There are more than 100,000 farmers associated with FIFA through its member FPOs. Prime function of FIFA is to help increasing income of these farmers through integration of its member producer organizations into value chain system.

FIFA is currently involved in aggregation and wholesale trading of perishables (Fruits & Vegetables) and non-perishables (Pulses, Cereals and Spices) through its member FPOs. In 2016-17, one of its member organizations (Karnataka Farmers Maha Society) supplied 246,570 quintals of red gram valued INR 124.52 Crore to National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED). FIFA also extends logistical support to its member organizations for retailing their produce. FIFA also assist its member organizations in setting up of farm-mechanization centres. At present, 18 such Custom Hiring Service Centres (CHSCs) are functional in Rajasthan and Karnataka, which are being operated by its member FPOs in the respective regions.
